    Petition on FACEBOOK

    Petition on National Petition

YES! transport fares are waaayyy too expensive for us poly students. and i really don't care what crap excuses were given by the transport companies. you know what they said?

"When asked if it would act on the petitions, a TransitLink spokesman told The New Paper: 'All concessionary fares are effectively cross-subsidised by full-fare paying commuters.'"

-taken from The Electric New Paper, Singapore

meaning if they start subsidizing for us poly students, they have to raise the so-called "adult-fare"! that is totally outrageous. you know how much are these blood sucking transport companies earning each day? and the pay for each bus captain is like? maximum 2000$ i assume?

used to think that the bus captains don't earn much but hey! 2000$ is like a lot for just driving around in air-conditioned (most of them are) buses, for like one shift per day. not too sure about the working days though. still, if transport companies can offer such salary for bus captains, why not the subsidies?

and the petition going around? honestly, i think it's not very effective. because transport companies are PRIVATE companies. totally not in the control of the government. and it's really just up to them to decide if they want to subsidize for us or not. well, if i were them,

"hmm let's see. there are 1824763856 signatures on this petition. oh well, can just chuck that aside. it's not like the signatures will harm us or anything. unless, the students literally come and hurt-OH NO."

maybe we should do something more drastic about this fares thing. something that will really affect the transport companies but they can do nothing about it.

handsomeboy came up with a brilliant idea last night!

POLY STUDENTS SHOULD BOYCOTT TRANSPORT FARES.

like gather up your friends and school mates at the bus stop in front of your school. then when we all board the bus, we simply DON'T PAY the fare. it'll be stupid for just 1, 2 or 5 people to do it. but the whole bunch of us? that's like almost 40-50 of us. the bus captain won't be able to do anything as long as we stick together.

come on it'll be great! petitions can make the situation known but they can't effectively improve the situation. i know for SP students, a majority of you take the MRT to school and you all can't possibly enter without paying. that part we'll try to work on it later.

please, i'm appealing to all of you to help in this boycott to make it a success. flyers can be distributed at the bus stop to let known of this boycott among poly students. word of mouth, email, sms, whichever way. let this boycott be known.

in life, no one will help us, unless we help ourselves and fight for our rights.

we've blown the war horn, now it's time for war.
