[correction! i haven't lost them yet la.. just about to lose one. to whoever it affected, i'm really sorry about it. please do not blow up this matter ya? everyone deserves their own decisions.]
just two weeks of officially being the vice-captain, i've already lost two team members. for whatever their reason, i just hope they don't regret their decision.
so i spent the whole of last night thinking what exactly have gone wrong? it's not that i'm not letting them go, i just don't understand the logic behind these actions.
as some may say, maybe they've lost their passion for the sport or they just don't want to be forced to do something that they're unwilling to do.
for the people involved, i won't mention names. but i won't deny, i've read your blogs and have spoken to one of you before. but please don't get agitated over what you'll see. it's not against you, i'm just trying to figure something out.
i remembered a friend telling me before,
Passion can't be lost. Because Passion, is more than just great interest or
enjoyment for something, it is more than just a hobby. If you say you've lost
your Passion, maybe in the first place, there wasn't any to begin with.
so i searched the meaning of
Passion, and it states that often with the initial capital letter, it refers to the sufferings of Christ on the cross or His sufferings subsequent to the Last Supper.
or otherwise,
Boundless Enthusiasm.
basically, it doesn't end. you cannot simply just lose
Passion.
but i was thinking the first meaning is too strong and harsh. stilll, it depicts the clearest image of what Passion means.
so, do you really have
Passion for tabletennis? or have you mixed it up with great liking for the sport?
you can tell me, you enjoy the sport. but you just don't want to be forced to go training. don't want to be forced to undergo tougher conditions like physical training.
can i remind you, we are not a
leisure club, but a
competitive team. and we've mention countless times during the recruitment, we
ARE looking for competitive players.
a team is different from a club. a team strives for excellence, has a clear objective- to win. a club merely provides a space for people who share a common interest to play. to get together? objective of a club? to allow people that share an interest to interact with each other.
so are we a team or a club?have we thought about the past when you first joined tabletennis. be it willing or unwilling. what made you stay all those years? after those years of fighting and aiming for higher and higher achievements. you had training then right? what's so different about training now?
different coach? different training methods? does it really matter to you?
all i know is, the bottomline hasn't changed. we want to win. no matter how we've joined in the first place, we all want to improve our skills and win.
it's like gaming. why do you constantly play? you want to level up, get stronger, and win. simple as that.
and people have said,
if you really want to come for training, you'll find means to do so. there's no need to anyone to plead or beg you to.assignments, projects, internship, laziness or whatever that's stopping you from coming to trainings. it's all bullshit. and here, i'm saying this to the whole team.
i don't ask you to compromise your studies because studies are your priority as a student. i just want that little effort that you used to have when you just entered team temasek.
your attitude determines your altitude. and also the situation.
if training makes you unhappy, you feel like you're suffering, it's just your attitude towards it.
the training never changed, tabletennis never changed. only you did.
yup so that's what i was figuring out. and i have many many other thoughts now about religion and friends that'll have to come another time. i won't lengthen this post then it already is.
to the two, thanks for your efforts and contributions in the past. and you're still welcomed to join us any time. (:
